We have moved

Yep, we moved to where we had stayed in Oct. 2012, namely Peace Arch RV Park.  Two reasons for the move.  1. too far to travel back and forth to Richmond and Drs visits in Vancouver.  2.  Eric has horse stalls that he rents out and in turn the renter rents the stalls to horse owners.  What comes with horses is horse sh—.  Just a bit too smelly for us.  So, we moved.

We went to the island with Eric to visit Lynn and Wayne ((people we met in Yuma) .  They live in Campbell River.  Had a great visit with them.  They showed us around a bit of CR.  Great to see them.

While there, we called our friends Gerald and Janice on Quadra Island and went over for lunch which ended up being dinner.  While there, we visited a bit of the island and while driving around, Janice mentioned that there was a private Campground that was looking for a camp host. Didn’t think much about it in the beginning, however, they took us to see the campground.  OMG, we need to have a powow and discuss the possibility of staying there for the summer.  Must say, it was a very short powow.  MJ said would you like it here for the summer and I responded YESSSSSSS.  So, up we go to the lodge and see if the position is still available and it was and we got it.  woooooo hooooooo   We start on May 15th to Sept 15th.  It is all inclusive for free:  sewer at the site, water and electricity, free showers and laundry, AND high speed interned.  Did I say ALL FOR FREE.  All we have to do is greet the campers and make sure that everything is tidy when they leave and advise the front desk at the lodge if toilets need  cleaning and garbage bins need emptying.  YES, we can do that.

Gerald and Janice have 3 goats and one had to be milked and MJ offered to do it.  Wow, she did it.  Now she thinks she’s a goat farmer.  lol  She will probably be milking all summer.

April 8th. We made it into Langley.

We crossed the border with flying colors.  The guy didn’t even ask us if we bought anything down south, not even booze or cigarettes.  I had made a nice list with receipts, but he was more interested in chatting about our 5th wheel as opposed to a tent trailer (which he has).  OK by us.

Yep, we are at Eric’s house in Langley.  We cannot be lonely here, there are horses boarded in the barn stalls and a riding ring.  Kids and their parents are here all the time cleaning the stalls or practicing their riding in the ring.  Great spot.

Eric cooked us dinner yesterday, yummy.

Back a bit here.  In the morning, we stopped at Walmart in Bellingham and spotted Denise’s motor home in the corner of the parking lot.  We hadn’t seen her since February in Quartzsite.  Had been following her progress driving north on her blog and thought she was way ahead of us, but there she was.

April 9th, Tuesday

Off to Costco to do some shopping.  We had thrown every morsel of meat and veggies before crossing the border to be on the safe side, so (gotta) go get some food.  Bought a pizza and had dinner at Eric’s house.

April 10th, Wednesday

Rain, rain, rain, rain.  Shitty rain.  We are off to Richmond today (in the rain).  Did I say it is pouring rain?  Getting a phone, groceries at Save-On, and going to visit and dinner at MJ’s bro Phil and Doug.

Getting closer to being in BC

Yep, we are in Burlington, Wash, a hop, skip and jump from good ole B.C.  Should be in Langley (our temporary home) tomorrow.

Today was a day of rain.  At times a bit of rain and at other times a looooooot of rain.  Seattle was working on one of the bridges on I-5, so we went on 405 and found it quite nicer than the I-5 and totally bi-passed Seattle.  So, a new route for next fall.

After being in the Arizona dessert for more that 5 months and coming into this rain and cold weather we are not happy campers.  We are chilled to the bone when going outside.  Thank goodness for Mr. Heater in the 5th wheel.

We stopped at a truck stop tonight and there is a Bob’s Burger restaurant here.  OMG.  We had eaten at Bob’s once and remembered how good his burgers were.  They are still as good as ever.  Treated ourselves.

No pics today, they would have been of shitty rain.

Later gators.

Woo Hoo we made it to Vancouver……

That would be Vancouver Washington.  lol

Just a bit over 200 miles and with the wind and a  bit of rain, it felt more like 400 miles.  We phoned Walmart last night to make sure they allowed RV parking and the lady said yes.  We get there today, and there are signs everywhere saying no overnight parking.  Talked to the manager and sure enough, we couldn’t park there.  So, we moved on and are parked at a pub/restaurant/truck stop called Jolly’s.  It is now raining cats and dogs, so we have to be careful not to walk in a “poodle”.

Tree farm.  Hundreds and hundreds of the same tree.

Well, we did the big hill in Pendleton, Ore April 5/2013

Yes, we thought that the hill in Pendleton was worse than it actually is.  Some people had told us it was a breeze and some other folks told us it was a b----.  We made it ok.  Downhill for 6 miles at a 6% grade.  Shifted in second gear and put 4 way flashers on and tickety boo, we were a-ok.  What goes down must come up, so looking forward to the fall to go the other way.  lol
