We have arrived at Imperial Dam, Ca

I will try to give a synopsis of our trip to this wonderful spot.

First, we left Peace Arch RV park on Oct 14 and arrived here on Oct. 20th.  One week of interesting, however, not always fun times.  We left Surrey in the rain and that rain only got worse as we drove along.  We decided to drive part of the Oregon and Cal coasts as we thought that the I-5 had too many hills and would be very hard on our truck.  Well, on looking back, we would have been better off doing the whole trip on the I-5.

On the 101 (the coast part), we had hurricane force winds (in our opinion) and being right on the water, was coming square at us.  We had to stop several times to let the winds slow down a bit.  Roads are narrow and hilly and not nice to drive.  Our truck and rig are both very dirty and sticky with salt water.

At one point, we decided to cut across and get back on I-5 and the hills were worse than we anticipated, so we turned around and got back on the coast.  We eventually cut over and hit rush hour and an accident on the 6 & 7 lane highway in Passadena.  Took an exit as we saw a Walmart and were told we could not stay overnight.  So got back on the highway and crawled to another Walmart and pleaded with the security guard to let us stay there, which he did.  Word of advice to travellers wanting to use Walmart parking lots in the US.  Most of them will not let you stay.  The truck stops are great and everywhere, but noisy as can be with truckers leaving their engines running, but the worse part is the fumes from all the engines.

On our last day, about 70 miles from Quartzsite, on highway 10, there was another accident and were stopped for 2 hours.  Some ladies needed to use the potty and used our trailer.  They we soooooo grateful.  One of them was ready to go in a little cooler, but of course, did not want to do potty in front of everybody.
